"The harbinger of their destruction." NOT "our" (Cylon) destruction, but THEIR destruction. The Cylon plan is brilliant - create a "civil war," with a Cylon faction "needing" to form an alliance with the Colonials. Beat up a base ship, let the Colonial's "find" it, bring it back to the Fleet and allow the Colonials to find Earth. Then, the entire Cylon fleet shows up and destroys ALL of humanity. To bolster my scenario, think on these: 1. On-board the base ship, Anders hesitates to put his hand in to pool to "interface" with the base ship. Why? It is not yet time. Either after the base ship is brought back to the fleet, OR, the fleet finds earth, Anders WILL interface with the base ship, sending out a homing beacon to the Cylon fleet who in turn, show up and obliterate humanity. 2. Starbuck's survival and "showroom floor" Viper cannot be explained. Starbuck is the FINAL Cylon model. Also, how can those aboard Galactica NOT know Cally was MURDERED? There has to be an "electronic record" of WHERE the airlock button was pushed (from INSIDE the control booth) and Cally could NOT have done that. I'm still scratching my head on that one.
